New York: A Concrete Jungle Where Dreams Are Made Of!

 WELCOME TO NEW YORK
This Is My Sister & I in NYC for the First Time!

Watch our recap reels on Instagram:

My sister and I always plan trips for our birthdays to travel somewhere new and adventurous. We just experienced our first Mardi Gras in New Orleans for my birthday when the announcement dropped for the Tenth Anniversary of Hamilton on Broadway, featuring Leslie Odom, who would be reprising his role as Aaron Burr. My sister looked at me and said this is it! I know what I want to do for my birthday, and a trip to New York to see her favorite Broadway musical that she has watched on Disney+ countless times was it.
      Hamilton
We had a four-day trip planned from October 31st until November 3rd, returning on the morning of the 4th. You know what they say about God and making plans, they don't always go the way you think! Walking out the door to head to the airport for our one-way trip from Charleston, SC to JFK at 11am turned into a phone call notifying us that our flight was cancelled. Well, not just our flight...ALL OF THEM!
Being in big sister mode to help her sister not have a horrible birthday, especially since the Hamilton tickets were already paid for along with the hotel, got on the phone and got the flight rebooked for later in the day, and now we were flying out at 6pm and a connecting flight with a short layover instead of a straight shot there. We didn't arrive in New York until after 12:00am, pulling up to our hotel, The New York Marquis on Broadway at almost 1am, losing the full day of our trip, but realizing...THE CITY WAS FULL OF LIFE!

It was absolutely one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen! Picture it! Times Square at 1am on Halloween, and everyone is OUTSIDE! Usually, you arrive in town, and it's quiet and a small group of people are walking around, but not here. I mean, everyone was in the streets, the music was playing, and there was nothing but laughter in the air. It was at that moment that we were no longer upset about what was the situation but happy with the moment we were in now. Since we were already full into our trip at this point we grabbed food from one of the food trucks outside our hotel and enjoyed the atmosphere and excitement that was New York.

Later that day, after getting a bit of sleep, we explored the city. I had a surprise for my sister as we could not come to NYC and not have our name in lights, so I rented a billboard for a day and it's the best gift I've ever given her. Afterwards, we went shopping and ate lunch at our hotel before getting ready for the show we'd been waiting for, Hamilton, and it did not disappoint! Amazing from start to finish. Leslie Odom received a standing ovation before he could even sing a single line of the opening act.

The next two days of our trip, we went on to explore Bryant Park during their Winter Park Series, showcasing their ice rink and food booths from popular chefs promoted all over TikTok. We had lunch at Burger and Lobster and enjoyed delicious mocktails and appetizers that I rank 10/10! Highly Recommend. We had dinner again at the restaurant in our hotel, then we went to check out Stranger Things: The First Shadow Broadway show, and it was absolutely amazing and attention-grabbing from the very start. On our last day we ventured out of Times Square to Brooklyn. The views were BREATHTAKING. Enjoying lunch at Times Out Market in the heart of Brooklyn we explored the city and made our way to Chinatown and Cuts and Slices Pizza before heading back to our hotel to pack for our departure. I was so sad to leave but going back is absolutely a must.
